It didn't take long at all, I started last night and snuck finished the rest at work today. The pattern is from Afya Ibomu's first Get your Crochet On book.
It was the perfect practice for the few basic stitches I have learned.
I feel like an official crocheter!

What I like about this one was that I could kind of follow the pattern as a guideline, but modify it without much brainwork. I knew the original would have been too small to fit over kiddo's locs. I just added a few extra rounds and it was perfect. I also drawstrung (? or drawstringed?) it with a ribbon instead of elastic.
Kiddo approved.

wow. i really like that design for a hair accessory, and it turned out nicely.
(i like "drawstrung" :-D)
I like it. For your first crochet project, it's very good !
Very very cute!!Great job!
Greay job!!! I love those bun holders, I've made a few for myself. The ribbon idea is cute. Instead of buying elastic, I use elastic headbands. I double them and then single or half double crochet right over them...secure and easy.
Well, look who's crocheting like she's been doing it forever. You did a great job. I can hardly wait to see what's next.
Good Job It looks cute
I love your blog!!!!!!!!!
Hi, I love your blog. And I love your first crochet project. Please check out mine. I love to sew and lately between sewing projects I have started crocheting doilies. You might want to try some.
