Throwback

The ever-popular Simplicity 3803

I made this dress along with this one (no worries I got rid of the that one) a couple of years ago to wear during my last trimester and for maternity leave. I promise, this is one of the last of my maternity/postpartum items that I still wear-besides this dress.

Prolly shouldn't be wearing it, but I just can't get enough. It's very cool/breezy, and comfortable, not to mention the chocolatey color!!

Pattern Review on PR

Dress: Simplicity 3803 Fabric: Swiss Dot Cotton from Joann's
Flats: thrifted

Perfect dress for a hot day. Of course I wore it with a cardigan to make it office-friendly.
I know my feet are ___.  I just wanted to show these cute shoes!!
I found them at the thrift shop. Barely worn, caramel leather, super comfy - score!

Beside the fact that it's a maternity style dress, it's not really flattering for me. I need a bust adjustment, the waistline is too high and the gathers on the front are doing NOTHING GOOD for my figure.

*sigh*

I will go ahead and chuck it. I think I'll replace it with Butterick 5490. This dress looks like it will fit me better with the longer midriff and pleated skirt. Plus, I'll make sure there is ample bust room :)

I hope to get to this soon. I would have loved to make it for the summer dress challenge.

It's not too late to join the challenge. Faye extended it until the 19th. Maybe you can do something like this with the bottom half. http://www.missdibs.com/2011/05/some-mmj-and-holiday-wardrobe-challenge.html

The dress looks nice and not maternity at all. I love your blog and girl you've got skills. I have large breast and often need a bust adjustment. The high waist looks great and maybe getting fitted for a bra will lift the breast area. Me included I've been wearing three cup sized to small. I know TMI.

Love your new avi by the way!!! I don't think the dress looks like a maternity dress so I think you can keep it a little while longer ;)
I have plans to make the 3803 but I also have the butterick so I'm kind of weighing which one the fabric will go to.
