Summer dresses part I

Forgot about showing you the dresses I made for this summer's vacation. I took many pics, but the ones of me mostly turned out goofy looking because my photog was being 13. Shoot, it can't be me, lol...

But here goes:
Nothing "interesting" but very laid back comfortable. I pretty much wore loose maxi dresses

Butterick 5643 - made 2 more (in awesome non wrinkling cottons!), first one here
5652 - swimsuit coverup, sheer polyester chiffon
5313 from this post
& a pair of cropped cotton harem pants from last summer (McCalls 5889 - sorry forgot to take pics)

We went to amusements parks, on walking tours and the beach. And it was hooooooot so everything in my summer vacation "wardrobe" worked out perfectly.

The blue dress was a thrifted "muu-muu" in a crinkled cotton/rayon with a small floral print and tiered bottom. Soooo cute. I felt very "prairie" in it. I need to wear this again soon to get a better pic.

I lost my freaking hat at the park though. So mad cause it's hard to find hats that fit me.
I need to take pics of the dress that I didn't get to wear at all!

Ah well, at least I made it.

Something I didn't have to make

My sis thrifted this sweet little dress and wanted me to cut it into a skirt because the bodice was too small. I tried it on and needless to say, she wasnt getting it back.

It's still kind of low for me so I will wear it with a cami underneath next time. I wore it with my long black cardigan (not pictured) and plain black flats.

Dress: Anne Klein
Since it's been hot I havent been in the mood to wear anything that requires extra energy. Hence the Man Repelling super comfy Naturalizer flats that I have been wearing almost daily. Everytime I shop there, I'm the youngest one in the store, and I'm 34, LMAO!!!

Something I didn't have to make

I have been searching high & low for the right polka dot fabric for a dress. So on a recent thrifting trip I was stoked to find this dress. I won't call it vintage, because it's rayon challis which was very common in the 90's and late 80's. It was in great condition, fit perfectly and it was the right price, $8. Score!!!

Sweater - found at Tueasday Morning
Dress - found at The Goodwill
Belt - Banana Republic

Contact

So mad. I left my camera at my mom's last weekend so I couldn't take pics of my latest finished item. I plan on wearing it this Saturday when she & I are hanging out again. Also this week, I found and wore another FO from the summer, view A of McCall's 5887. I was totally cute that day, too!!! No pictorial proof, but I'll get dressform pics later...

(sneak preview of Vogue 8631, sad cell phone pics)

On a lighter side I FINALLY found MY London Fog Cotton Trench - meaning for a couple of years now I have been on the hunt for a Baltimore-thentic, in great condition, nice fitting trench in my usual thrift stores. Now this shouldn't be too hard to find in B-more, but I kept finding super petite or super large or super worn out ones, in my local area. An older woman at my job has the most awesome magenta-plum colored "vintage" London Fog cotton that she's had forever, she's responsible for my search. So mine is boring khaki, but I'm not mad it's versatile and classic.

Since this post is worthless with out pictures, here's my desperate cell phone pic...

Soon as I get my camera back better pics :)
