Pattern purge/giveaway

I just purged 65 patterns from my stash! I was originally going to do just ten for the month but I was on a roll. That means only 35 to go to meet this year's goal. I will revisit the stash in six months for another purge.

I also broke down and looked through my hundreds (ok like, ten) backup disks and found my pattern database from wayback. I am ready to get some kind of organization going because I found too many duplicates and similar styles while going through this purge. Once it's been tweaked I'll be sure to share with a permanent link.

Bump It

The baby finally allowed me enough energy to finish McCall's 5814 for my sister. Here's a preview pic.

She's on vacay so I can't get a pic of her in the whole outfit yet, but I will post as soon as I get it. I'm anxious to see.

I had a ton of energy at the beginning of my second trimester but it quickly waned now that trimester 3 is approaching. As a matter of fact I'm about to go lay down as soon as I publish this post. Here's a pic of me & the bump as of today. The monstrosity (all over bloating) I faced last pregnancy has not set in yet so I can still show my face :)

I am also cleaning out my pattern stash. So far I'm on the Simplicity box. I've recycled several cut patterns and found four uncut that I will most likely never make. They are all searchable on the Simplicity website

McCall's 5518

Pattern Critique: I'm not sure what drew me to this pattern. It is that loose & shape hiding style I am usually drawn to, but this one is not particularly......cute or even remotely stylish. The pattern cover is even bland, but I just had to make it. Maybe it was the pockets....

As it looks, it is really easy. It's your basic front, back, neck facings and sleeves - which were put in flat. I have never used a pattern that called for attaching the sleeve flat. There is topstitching down the front center seam and on the pockets. It was fun to make.

Fabric: Walmart $1 special satin-back stretch crepe. Rayon thread for topstitching.

Modifications: none for fit since this was a sack. I didn't hem the dress because I was afraid of that rounded hem, so I just serged it with pretty, shiny threads in the loopers.

Results: I don't know. I don't like the way the shoulder seam hangs, it makes my shoulders look broader. I looked closer at the pattern and that's how it should fit. Kiddo says I look like a doctor, and I probably do. Of course it is comfy. I'll wear it today & see how I feel.

Pattern Giveaway!

This pattern was sent to me by HotPatterns in a mix up with an order I placed. My order was resolved and they were generous enough to let me keep the pattern even though I had offered to send it back. I wasn't particularly fond of this style even though there was a review for a cute version made by Sew-4-Fun. The pattern is brand new & has never been opened.

SOOoo, instead of hoarding it I want to pass it on to a Fashionable Sewl Sista! I'm going to follow the same format as Assorted Notions. Here are the rules.
