Pattern reviews out the yin-yang!

I've been sewin', chillin', sewin' some more....

Vogue 7826-OOP

Size: 14

Pattern Critique: this was surprisingly easy, but time consuming--lots of marking!! Clear instructions. I was very worried about the pleats & folds not matching up but it came together perfectly! My only gripe is the way the sleeve is constructed. The inside is folded in and unfinished with no way to finish off to make the fold permanent other than top-stitching. Not cool. This pattern has ZERO ease!

Fabric: cotton spandex shirting from Joann's, very hard to iron! (i have a cheap iron though)

Modifications: none

Results: This was a UFO I abandoned during my blouse rampage. I think this will end up at the Goodwill because it is TOO TIGHT. I still need to add the side zip and give it one last try on.

Vogue 8390

Size:14

Pattern Critique:nice drafting - no mismatch pieces. I was almost confused with the directions because both front pieces are fully faced.

Fabric: some weird shiny poly jersey I got from Valique's Fabrics. It's a little too heavy for this pattern. Interlock would be perfect.

Modifications: I had to take out about two inches on the neck line it was so droopy, not sure if it was due to the fabric I used. It's still a bit droopy, but it's all stretched out from a day of wear in this pic. It's also long in length, still probably due to the fabric.

Results:I want to make a few more of these, easy breezy weekend/work tops!

Vogue 8427

Size: 14

Pattern Critique: good stuff. I just loooooove the wide leg. Hotness. This was the first time I made a fly zip without wanting to give up sewing. The directions were not totally clear but I read them thrice, then read each step as I constructed. My only dislike is that the belt loops are top stitched I should have just hand sewn them down at the edge.

Fabric: grayish blue suiting (poly?) from my aunt's stash

Modifications: none. next time I will add two inches to the inseam so I can get more than a 3/8 inch hem-lol!

Results: ick. I messed up a perfectly good pair of pants by serging the crotch seam thinking I knew what I was doing. I ended up taking out more seam allowance in some spots than I was supposed to. Now the rear is too tight at the top and the mid crotch rides up. Also my pockets are bulky even though I lined them with a thin silky poly. But again, I serged the side seams.....but I'm still wearing them. I'm still learning how to use my serger, I just had a big head that day. I gotta stick to just FINISHING MY SEAMS ONLY ha-ha!

Simplicity 4668-OOP

Size: none

Pattern Critique: cute bag. This was my first and I couldn't have selected a better pattern. Very easy and fun to put together. I'd love a bigger version of this bag though. It seams easy enuff to change, so maybe...

Fabric: clearanced home dec from Joann's and hubby's old khaki pants for the lining.

Modifications: none

Results: easy quick bag I made one Saturday morning as kiddo watched cartoons.

Simplicity 3681

Size: 14

Pattern Critique: easy, basically the same as Simplicity 3887

Fabric: denim with a bit of stretch

Modifications: none, too easy

Results: I love it! Little sis tried to clown me though, telling me it was muu-muuish. But I like muu-muus. so there.

New Look 6727

Size: 14

Pattern Critique: easy & fun. I've been wondering how they make bubble sleeves! The darts had me worried but they were cool. I think I'm good with my marking now.

Fabric: black (??) suiting from my aunt, a tad bit of stretch

Modifications: none.

Results:Fits me like a glove! I need to get a zipper so I can take a pic. I have another view of this pattern in the making, New Look is on it this season.

You have been really busy! You've made some great things but the one that really caught my eye is the black dress -- the New Look pattern. I may have to check that one out.

Wow! You've completed a lot of projects. I know what you mean about ruining a project because I "think" I know what I'm doing :) Buy some more fabric and make them again. They look good on you.

Oh my, so many garments. Great job! I like all the pieces that you feature in your post, but I really like the tan and white item that is barely visible in most of the photos.
